Washington’s excessive regulations are largely created and implemented by bureaucrats without a clear mandate by RCW’s or Constitutional mandate. Agencies cannot be permitted to replace the legislature by creating rules and penalties that behave like laws and harm our businesses. Our state’s economy and personal freedoms have been throttled for decades as unelected bureaucrats regulate activist agendas without any accountability or consequences to the harm they cause our communities and our businesses. The process of ending this begins on day one when I am elected governor.
Elimination. Our broken system can begin to be cleaned up by eliminating two old regulations for every new one introduced. This policy will be statewide and expected in every department under the Governor’s authority.
Accountability. After decades in power, certain state agencies have been weaponized against business, industry and the average citizen. On day one we remove strong-arm enforcement tactics and start working with affected businesses. Activist regulation and enforcement will not be tolerated in my administration and we will work hard to eliminate it.
Purpose. Proposed new regulations will require a clear and evidence-based explanation for what problem the regulation is solving, how it will benefit the citizens and at what cost.
